網路講座-Food systems governance in Canada: Examining the role of different stakeholders
Governance is integral to the transformation of food systems in Canada. Many stakeholders in food systems, including civil society organizations have experienced food systems governance from the top down, where decisions, formal and informal rules are established by small group of actors holding disproportionate power. Much of the literature on food systems governance reflects this. However, there have been significant shifts taking place. Civil society organizations (CSOs) and private actors are increasingly engaging in governance and policy making, challenging the top-down governance in the food system. This significantly impacts the nature and orientation of food systems. This webinar will explore the changing governance structures in the Canadian food system. Examples from federal, provincial, and municipal governments as well as examples from CSOs and the private sector will be provided. The participation of all these actors is creating debates in what food systems governance is, how it is experience and what more participatory structures might look like.
